Debate of Portuguese government's Recovery and Resilience Plan

October 28th | Online

On October 28th, we had another online ESOP Associates Meeting, this time to discuss the Plano Recuperação e Resiliência - Recuperar Portugal 2021-2026 - Plano preliminar (Recovery and Resilience Plan - Recover Portugal 2021-2026 - Preliminary Plan).

This Meeting was attended by several associates (Caixa Mágica, Eurotux, Info-Care, IPBrick, Javali, Linkare, Syone, ThinkOpen Solutions, TotalCross) and two special guests: Bernardo Pinto (Coordinator of AI Business Hub at INDEG-ISCTE Executive Education) and Bruno Curto Marques (who is part of the Management Leadership Team in the EY Consulting area, responsible for the Government and Public Sector).

Were presented various views of the Plan, identified some weaknesses and discussed concerns. The stakeholders lauded the technological investment intentions, however, they still reveal some reservations with the application. They highlighted the fact that the Plan is divided into three axes, one of which is Digital Transition, which denotes the government's concern with the country's technological development, and the fact that there is a great concern with the technological training and qualification of Portuguese society.

ESOP will remain allert to the developments of this Plan, always fighting for the concepts of Open Source Software, Interoperability, Open Standards and Independence of Technological Platforms, and providing support to companies and organizations in the evaluation of Open Source alternatives.
